Practice

Asmallpractice,twocities.

LUMEN was founded in 2014. We work slowly, with few projects at a time, across private residences, ateliers, and cultural commissions.

A dark interior looking out to misted hills

Rooms held against the landscape.

A residence in the north. Concrete, dark timber, and a single glazed wall. The view is not framed as a picture. It is allowed to occupy the room.

Philosophy

Architecture should recede. What remains is atmosphere, proportion, and the slow luxury of well-made space.

LUMEN is a small practice working across residences, ateliers, and cultural commissions. Each project is an exercise in quiet: fewer gestures, better materials, longer views.

Founded

A practice of quiet form. We take on a limited number of works so each can be drawn, made, and occupied with care.

A north-lit drawing room on the harbour. Site visits across Scandinavia and the north of Europe begin here.

A court of planting and quiet mass

A quieter room for West Coast work. Light, landscape, and the Pacific horizon.
