Copenhagen, and Los Angeles

A quiet practice for private residences, ateliers, and cultural spaces. Light held in proportion. Materials chosen to last.

Built to scale

Process: 4 movements

FLOW

01 / 04

Site

We begin with orientation, light, and the quiet rituals of those who will inhabit the work.

Duration: two to four months. Surveys, solar studies, and time spent on the ground. We record approach, shadow, and the grain of the existing fabric before a line is drawn.

02 / 04

Form

Drawings reduce the project to proportion, material, and sequence. Nothing extra remains.

Duration: four to eight months. Plans, models, and a short material palette. Openings are placed for light rather than view alone. Structure is resolved so the rooms can stay quiet.

03 / 04

Craft

Makers and builders translate the drawings into rooms that feel inevitable, never imposed.

Duration: ten to twenty months. Site supervision is close and few. Concrete, stone, timber, and glass are specified by source. Details are held until they can be made well.

04 / 04

Dwell

Handover. Architecture recedes so life, light, and material can occupy the space.

Timeline: eighteen to thirty-six months from first visit to occupation. Furnishings are spare. We remain available for the first season of light, then step back.

Approach held in a line.
A court of water and measured steps. The path is the room. We use this plate as a reminder that sequence is architecture.

A single opening in the soffit. The rest is shade. Occupation is a walk through measure, not a view staged for a camera.

Philosophy

Architecture should recede. What remains is atmosphere, proportion, and the slow luxury of well-made space.

LUMEN is a small practice working across residences, ateliers, and cultural commissions. Each project is an exercise in quiet: fewer gestures, better materials, longer views.
